Skin Cancer Types

Palm Beach Dermatology Group

There are many types of skin cancers. They are classified as non-melanomas or melanomas. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are common non-melanomas. Non-melanomas are not very aggressive and rarely spread. However, if untreated, non-melanoma skin cancers can grow quite large and cause disfigurement.

Melanomas are fast growing and aggressive cancers. They can quickly spread to vital organs in the body and are more likely to cause death than non-melanomas.
